A scenario written by AI experts, Daniel Kokotajlo, Scott Alexander, Thomas Larsen, Eli Lifland, and Romeo Dean, to help us forecast the potential future. The authors describe it as "our best guess about what that might look like. It’s informed by trend extrapolations, wargames, expert feedback, experience at OpenAI, and previous forecasting successes."

The usefulness of this document for the general public, I think, is in glimpsing the behind-the-scenes ideas and values of AI companies, their motivations and incentives, and especially in seeing what potential futures are ahead of us. Hopefully, we can use this to steer clear of the warning signs and towards a safe and healthy future with AI.
