Reclaim your humanity.

Lessons learned about humans through technology and systems.

My name is Jess Brown, a designer turned developer.

After a devastating experience with an MS (Multiple Sclerosis) attack and dealing with the social implications of being a queer person, I’ve been looking for a new kind of wholeness.

One that doesn’t rely on ability or anything else to determine my value.

If we remove the systemic pressure to define ourselves in terms of production value, we only have one thing left to lean on to find that value: our humanity.

CYBORG_ is about how to find or amplify humanity, despite technology or other systems that tend to dominate it.

Our tech is inseparable from us, but it doesn’t have to be calling the shots. Let’s figure out how together.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Can I unsubscribe anytime?
Absolutely! I'm grateful for any time we have together. I encourage you to unsubscribe as soon as you need to put your energy elsewhere.
How often do you write these newsletters?
I send one newsletter each week on Tuesday mornings (U.S.A. time).
What experience do you have to talk about these kinds of topics?

I'm a web developer, so I do try to pull in that experience to help demystify aspects of technology. I'm also a queer person with a disability (multiple sclerosis), so I also try to be inclusive and advocate for healthier ways of working and living.

As an amateur artist (my BFA was in Graphic Design), I also find that creativity and play have a vital role to play in our lives. This is really important to strike a well-balanced life with technology.
